Dr Maria Chetcuti-Cauchi is the co-founding partner of the law firm
CC-Advocates.
The firm has established itself as a leading law firm in Malta in the fields
of financial services, tax law, trusts and estate planning, residence, ICT
law and intellectual property law. currently heads the firm's Intellectual
Property & IT Unit as well as the Financial Services department.
Maria heads two major departments in the Firm - the
Intellectual Property &
ICT Department & the
Financial Services
Department.

She has previously served as senior corporate services consultant at
Deloitte Touche and has worked on a number of corporate finance,
privatisation projects, bond issues and M&As.
Academic Profile
Maria read law at
the
University of Malta
where she graduated BA in Law and English, Diploma of Notary Public and
later Doctor of Laws in European Corporate Law. She later on pursued her studies at Masters degree level in
International Economic Law at the
University
of Warwick, England. At Warwick, Maria specialised in
International & European Banking, International Corporate Finance and
International Technology Transfer.
Her
doctoral research at the University of Malta centred around the
European
Company (the Societas Europaea) as a New Corporate Vehicle. At
the Law School of Warwick University, she wrote her thesis on Online Initial
Public Offerings under U.S. Law.
She
has written extensively on the implications of the application of online
technology to traditional banking and finance, corporate law, gaming law and
intellectual property matters.
