The Maltese authority regulating gaming in Malta, the Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA), has gone through a re-branding process and has changed its name to Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). Having gone through a complete overhaul of its corporate branding, the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) aiming to reflect the current challenges faced by the gaming industry and focussing on Malta as a leading gaming jurisdiction of choice.

Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) Launched

Announcing the re-branding at the launch of the new corporate identity for the Authority, the Executive Chairman of the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA)Joseph Cuschieri, reiterated that the new name and logo will serve as a better representation of the Authority's heritage, past successes, vision and values within the national agenda, in line with the strategic objectives. The launch was also presided by the Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Business, Dr Chris Cardona, and Parliamentary Secretary for Competitiveness and Economic Growth, Dr José Herrera.

The event also saw the launch of the new web page for the Authority, <www.mga.org.mt>, addressing the need to an improved look and easier accessibility through the use of the latest technology aimed at providing an optimal viewing experience to users accessing the webpage through smart phones and tablets. The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) also announced at the event a stronger social presence through new official Facebook and Twitter profiles and a revamped LinkedIn page.

Regulating the Malta Gaming Industry

Regulating the various sectors within the gaming industry, the Authority has been, since inception, ensuring fairness and transparency to players, preventing crime and money laundering within the sector, and providing protection to minors and vulnerable players. The successful setting up of the Responsible Gaming Foundation, together with the introduction of Gaming Malta and the Gaming Academy later on during the year, will ensure that Malta remains at the forefront of the gaming industry and continue to consolidate its position as a centre of excellence through innovation and optimisation of its operations.
