Accolades For Malta Citizenship Due Diligence

Malta has been praised for excellence in its due diligence process conducted by Identity Malta, Malta's Citizenship Agency responsible for the processing all Malta Citizenship by Investment applications.

Peter Vincent, General Counsel at Canadian firm Thompson Reuters Special Services, stated that countries wishing to adopt similar programmes should look at Malta as a model, as it has proven itself to be a “textbook example” of how applicants should be assessed.

"Malta has a reputation for having a very solid programme for citizenship and residency that has very secure due diligence processes in place and transparency. It's by no means perfect but there is no completely secure system in the world but if you are looking for a model, not just for the EU but for the entire world, I would look to a country like Malta," Vincent said in an interview with Investor Migration Insidr, an industry journal.

We also spoke to leading European Citizenship lawyer Dr Jean-Philippe Chetcuti from European Law Firm Chetcuti Cauchi Advocates, while addressing a global citizenship conference earlier this week at the Oberoi Hotel in Dubai.  "The Malta Citizenship program is very clear and the outcome of an application is very predictable.  Our citizenship lawyers assess applications with the same standards of Malta's Citizenship Agency so avoid surprises once applications are filed.  And we're very accurate in our assessment."  The grounds for rejection are very predictable and therefore the programme's success rate is high when applicants are professionally represented.

Malta's Prime Minister Dr Joseph Muscat announced earlier on that Malta will be extending the Malta Individual Investor Programme beyond the 1,800 quota currenty applicable.  The programme has been a success and Malta's eligibility criteria are clearly stated and therefore we are confident that this will attract “even more exclusive” individuals willing to invest in Malta.
