The Moldova Citizenship by Investment Programme (MCBI) was launched in November 2018 and is the third European programme of its kind after the Malta & Cyprus programmes. Although Moldova is not part of the EU it is aiming at becoming an EU candidate for accession.
Moldova Citizenship by Investment Programme - Schengen Access
Amongst other benefits, the main advantages of the Moldova Citizenship by Investment Programme are the cost and the fact that Moldova has signed a visa waiver agreement with the Schengen Area meaning that Moldovan passport holders can travel to the Schengen Area without the need of a visa. Individuals investing in the MCBI will thus have visa-free access to Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland, as well as the right to stay in the Schengen Area for three months in every 6 months.

The low cost of such a programme is also an advantage when comparing this programme with others since such a programme includes the following costs:
• EUR 100,000 for a single applicant
• EUR 115,000 for a couple
• EUR 145,000 for a family of four
• EUR 155,000 for a family of five or more
Post-approval government fee of EUR 35,000 per application, government fees and due diligence fees also apply.
