Montenegro Citizenship by Investment Programme launched

The Montenegro Citizenship by Investment Programme was launched in 2018 and it allows investors the opportunity to obtain the citizenship of Montenegro in exchange for investment in the country. The Montenegro programme requires applicants to make a contribution to the government as well as to invest in Real Estate. Applicants and their family members will also be subject to a due diligence process before being able to acquire the citizenship of Montenegro.

Investment required for Montenegro Citizenship by Investment

To be able to submit an application under the Montenegro Citizenship by investment programme, an applicant must be at least over the age of 18 and contribute to the economy of Montenegro by paying a non-refundable contribution of €100,000 to government as well as to invest in Real Estate, as explained below ::

1.    €250,000 investment in government approved projects in under developed regions of Montenegro, or
2.    €450,000 investment in government approved projects in developed regions of Montenegro

Besides the above-mentioned criteria, the applicant must also fulfil the following conditions:
•    Have a clean criminal record from the country of origin and country of residence;
•    Confirmation that the applicant’s assets are not frozen or ordered to be frozen by the EU.
•    Pay due diligence fees for the Main applicant and his/her dependents.
