Residency & Citizenship Law

St Kitts & Nevis Citizenship By Investment

We specialise in Schengen residency and second citizenship for international families seeking international access and mobility, education, business and investment opportunities in countries not otherwise accessible to them, whilst bringing increased wealth, talent, entrepreneurship and repute to the host countries.

Residency & Citizenship Law for HNW Families

Our firm has adopted a rounded approach which allows clients to benefit from our wider, fully-integrated firm-wide services. Once we identify our clients' personal and commercial objectives, we ensure that any domestic or international wealth structuring, family wealth issues or disputes, family office matters, as well as real estate and commercial transactions or philanthropic intentions are aligned with such objectives.

Typically, our role is to ensure that such clients adjust and familiarise themselves with Malta & Cyprus and to project manage their setting up from a legal, corporate and logistical aspect and assist them in compliance and ongoing matters.

Residency & Citizenship Law Government Advisory

The firm's partners and managers are instrumental in regularly submitting position papers and research papers and proposals to government entities to reform and improve Maltese & Cypriot immigration laws and other areas of the law. Moreover, they represent a number of professional bodies, such as the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners (STEP), Institute of Financial Service Practitioners and the Chamber of Advocates, as well as various industry associations (e.g. Malta Association of Family Enterprises, Malta Digital Gamers Developers Association), making them key players in their fields of expertise.

Malta Citizenship Programme

Citizenship may be attained by birth, descent, marriage, naturalisation and by investment.

Malta’s Individual Investor Programme allows affluent persons of impeccable standing and repute to be naturalised and to receive Maltese Citizenship on the basis of a contribution to and an investment in Malta. The firm was one of the forerunners in introducing citizenship by investment in Malta and represented the first group of u-/HNW family applicants as part of the pilot programme launched by Identity Malta, the agency responsible for the launch and administration of the programme. The firm was the very first firm to be granted ‘Approved Agent’ status by Identity Malta and saw the first Malta Citizenship approvals ever being issued under the Malta Citizenship by Investment Programme.

Our residency and Citizenship Law team includes Dr Jean-Philippe Chetcuti (Chetcuti Cauchi Advisors Ltd) who holds Citizenship Agent Licence no. IIP 001 and Mr Kenneth Camilleri who holds licence no. IIP 124. Both have satisfied the additional requirements imposed by the IIP Regulations over and above the requirements for ARMs under other legislation. The programme imposes more responsibilities on ARMs to ensure the highest standards of quality are maintained throughout the application process, for the protection and benefit of applicants and the reputation of the Maltese citizens by investment programme.

Individuals from different parts of the world, including the Middle-East, Russia, and the CIS, China, India, Bangladesh, Philippines, France and the US, have been represented by the firm. The firm provides VIP treatment to clients applying under this programme, offering end-to-end process management and concierge services, hand holding the client and family members throughout the application process and project managing any personal relocation process.

Malta Residence Programmes

Throughout the years, we have assisted individuals and families from all over the globe to take up an alternative residence permit in Malta, taking advantage of Malta’s membership of the European Union since 2004 and importantly, Malta’s Schengen status since 2007. The firm boasts the largest number of successful applications handled under the Malta Global Residence Programme since its inception when it was first known as the Permanent Residence Scheme and later the HNWI Rules.

Cypriot Residency & Citizenship Law

At Chetcuti Cauchi we have established ourselves in a leading position in immigration services for a long time, being one of the very few providers in Cyprus with pragmatic experience in successful management of Citizenship and Residency applications. Our mission is to facilitate clients’ application process for Cypriot citizenship and residence in Cyprus and advise them with provision of additional services including legal assistance, drafting and review of property acquisition agreement and organising property valuations.

We have vast experience in providing professional advice to clients who wish to obtain residence permits in Cyprus. Cyprus Residency by Investment grants Non-EU nations the right to permanently reside in Cyprus with no renewal requirements. Moreover, another Cyprus Residency programme gives the right to EU nationals to permanently reside in Cyprus and include their Non-EU family as well. Our Practice is well prepared to assist clients in selecting the appropriate residency scheme and therefore making the right choice for their business and family.

Through Citizenship by Investment, non-EU entrepreneurs and their dependants are granted naturalisation and a Cypriot Passport which allows the investor and his family to enjoy all the rights and benefits that a Cypriot would possess by birthright. This programme has proved to be very successful in attracting third country nationals who are highly qualified, successful and reputable entrepreneurs and their families who are looking for an alternative family base for private, business or financial matters.
